The 31^st meeting of the China-Russia Mixed Committee on Fisheries Cooperation was held in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, from Mar. 7–10. The two sides conducted in-depth consultations on implementation of the Protocol Between the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation on Cooperation in the Protection, Adjustment and Proliferation of Fishery Resources in Border Waters of the Heilongjiang River and Ussuri River as well as the implementation of the Cooperation Agreement Between the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation on Preventing, Stopping and Eliminating Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing of Living Marine Resources. In addition, they discussed cooperation in Marine capture fisheries as well as cooperation in the fishing industry in border areas, among other issues of mutual concern, and signed the meeting minutes.   

The two sides agreed that the multilateral and bilateral practical cooperation between China and Russia in the fishing industry has been strengthened continuously and has become a model of mutually beneficial, win-win fisheries cooperation between neighboring countries. The meeting reviewed bilateral cooperation since the 30^th meeting of the Committee and made specific arrangements for 2023 regarding fisheries management in border waters, reciprocal fishing quotas and cracking down on illegal fishing. The two sides also reached a preliminary consensus on deepening bilateral cooperation on the propagation of fishery resources in the Russian Far East. The meeting expanded the realm of China-Russia fisheries cooperation while consolidating the existing cooperation.
