The 19^th National Seed Information Exchange and Commodity Trading Fair and the 14^th China International Seed Expo, as well as the Tianjin Seed Industry Revitalization Conference 2023 and Tianjin International Seed Expo, were held in Tianjin from Mar. 17 to 19. Zhang Xingwang, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks. Xie Yuan, Vice Mayor of Tianjin, made a speech at the event. 

With the theme “Safeguard Food Security by Invigorating the Seed Industry and Ensure Production and Promote Rural Revitalization by Strengthening Fundamentals”, this year’s fair had four main emphases:  

First, S&T innovation. In the fair’s 30,000-square-meter exhibition area, 328 seed companies displayed new products, technologies and services.  

Second, integrated development. The fair organized a briefing on seed industry investment, as well as forums on IPR protection, the soybean oilseed and vegetable seed industries, and sheep breeding, among others. National seed production bases in Zhangye, Gansu Province, Sanming, Fujian Province, and Jiaxiang, Shandong Province were promoted.  

Third, authoritative release of information. The fair explained the latest policies on the seed industry, introduced quality seed varieties, analyzed seed supply and demand, and released information on companies selected for the national seed development team.  

Fourth, popularization of legal knowledge. The fair promoted the newly revised seed law through knowledge competitions, special exhibitions, distribution of brochures, and expert Q&A, thus creating a favorable environment for the development of the seed industry. 

More than 20,000 people from relevant government departments, seed companies, research institutes and financial institutions participated. The fair has been successfully held 18 times since its inception in 2003. It focuses on the exchange of seed information, fosters the application of quality varieties and advanced technologies, and has become a major platform for invigorating the seed industry and promoting high-quality agricultural development.
